At 4 months old, Owen has become quite the talker. Much more than I remember Teresa talking at this point. If you give him a big smile, he'll give you a big smile and coo and laugh and squeal in return. Owen put these skills to work over the Memorial Day climbing weekend in Joshua Tree: charming everyone while wearing his blue fleece bear suit, especially Mom and Dad.

Baby Marina Von Neumann arrived in 1935. Johnny Von Neumann was a besotted father enclosing details of her weight in letters to Princeton's Prof. Oswald Veblen. "Marina does not talk yet," he wrote when the child was six months old, but "this is for fear that Mariette Kann Von Neumann's family would instantly make her play bridge." -p.172 _John von Neumann, The Scientific Genius Who Pioneered the Modern Computer_ by Norman Macrae
